Chapter 4

Izzy

I woke up with a start. I didn’t know where I was, but somehow, I had woken up in a strange bed. Alone. At least I was alone. But I had no idea where I was.

There was a long moment of confusion as I tried to determine my location. Then, I realized.

“Davis.”

He must have put me in his bed. I groaned as I got out of the bed and walked out of the room. My body ached all over.

“He didn’t lock me in at least,” I mumbled under my breath as I found all three of my boys out in the living room. There was a bit of a tussle as they all tried to make their way to me in a space that was only big enough for one.

“Davis gave us a call.” Wilson made it first, carefully looking me over.

“He… pulled me out of the wreckage,” I admitted. I don’t know why the thought of telling them that bothered me, but it did.

“Yeah, he said that.” Gregor sat at my side as Wilson pulled me out of the doorway. I was soon deposited on the couch. “Thank God, you’re okay. I don’t know what I would’ve done with myself if something had happened to you.”

“We were all so worried when Davis told us what had happened,” Killian said, his expression somber.

“I’m fine. Just a bit sore.” I looked around the room. “Where is Davis?”

“He left as soon as I got here.” Wilson shrugged. “Said we could keep an eye on you.”

“Oh, why?”

“Because he said you were still scared of him,” Gregor said.

“Yeah… I guess so.”

And yet, as I sat on the couch with the three guys that meant the most to me, I couldn’t stop thinking about Davis. He had given up his apartment to this reunion. I needed to find a way to thank him, but I had no idea how to even do that.

“He got a hold of you guys?”

“Yeah, he called each of us to tell us that you were here.” Wilson smiled. “I wasn’t expecting that. Nobody could find you. We’d heard about the accident and we were afraid you hadn’t been dug out of the wreckage yet.”

“How bad is it?” I frowned.

“Pretty bad. Luckily, no one was too seriously hurt though. The healers are still working on some people, chanting med-magic, but it looks like everyone is gonna make it. But they’re rescheduling midterms.”

“When?” I groaned.

“They don’t know yet. People are still figuring stuff out.” Wilson shrugged. “You don’t need to worry about that though. They’ll give you time to recover.”

“Thanks.”

“Don’t thank us. We didn’t do that. You really think the school is going to make you go straight back to class and work after that?” Killian corrected me.

“Right. Sorry.” I huffed out a relieved laugh, feeling a lot better about what was going on. At least I could take a break.

“Do you need anything?” Gregor asked.

The guys were prepared to take care of me, but I just wanted to sit on the couch and rest in their arms.
